Attorney Biography

Over two decades, we have helped hundreds of people with career-impacting legal, including highly- sensitive security clearance, issues. Bill Aramony has achieved precedent setting changes in case law, processed cases during major changes in security-clearance procedures, helped persons accused of criminal violations to keep their jobs, after an administrative military or employment context and achieved record jury verdicts. In 2008, he continues to work on new, cutting edge, cases to achieve new legal precedent.

ASSOCIATED PERSONNEL. We associate other attorneys and non-attorney specialists, who have up to 25-years of legal experience. One senior attorney has 25-years of worldwide courts-martial experience. A non-attorney has held highly-sensitive prior positions. We also periodically consult with the founder of West Coast law firm on personnel issues, who also owns a manufacturing company employing personnel in the United States and China. Additionally, we are hired to assist other attorneys in support of federal cases.

CORPORATE CLIENTS. We have a few select small corporate clients. We have incorporated clients or filed for limited liability company status. We are general counsel to a client who provides disaster housing and works in bio-chemical areas. We also serve a few other corporations, and are counsel to an American non-profit which is engaged in world wide educational work.

LOCATION. Mr. Aramony continues to practice in Washington D.C. and remains an active member of the D.C., Virginia, and Federal Bars. For 17-years Mr. Aramony was located in Washington D.C. His offices are now located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, just three miles from D.C., and his office is within a few miles of each Courthouse and federal agency before which he practices

A summary of the experience of William S. Aramony follows:

LEGAL EXPERTISE

PERSONNEL SECURITY CLEARANCES. Since 1983, he has adjudicated personnel security clearance cases before security offices and panels, central adjudication facilities, DOHA, and before other specialized entities and officials.

CIVILIAN SECTOR. Since 1979, he have litigated and advised on contract, discrimination, stock options, black listing, pension rights, and non-compete agreements, and ERISA. We defended proprietary information and trade secret law suits. We litigated compensation, subcontractor, and discrimination suits and policy tort actions (more than $700,000 jury verdict, $500,000 of it punitive damages in one case).

OVERSEAS EMPLOYEES. Before and since 2001, we assist federal and contractor employees stationed overseas and working for different employers. Issues include contractors, non-competes, liability, and conduct issues.

CORPORATE. We incorporated select clients or established them as limited liability companies, and continued to advise them as they grew. Some provide overseas products or services. We are not, specialists in the law of foreign countries.

DUTY OF LOYALTY AND NONCOMPETES. We have advised about and litigated non compete agreements, duty of loyalty, conspiracy to interfere with business, proprietary information, trade secrets (e.g., as defense counsel to an employee, tried an injunction case to completion).

GOVERNMENT CONTRACTORS. We advise Defense contractors and their employees on employment rights and responsibilities, and employee contracts. Commissioned-paid and executive personnel who work in the industry also regularly consult us.

FEDERAL CIVILIAN. We have represented hundreds of federal employees proposed to be fired or fired for misconduct, did a class action (with two other law firms), handled several U.S. Constitutional cases, defended a Bivens suit in U.S. District Court, and filed USERRA and RIF MSPB appeals, in addition to whistle blowing, discrimination, and federal retirement MSPB or EEOC appeals. We also have represented many persons who worked in certain classified areas and others with limited legal rights (e.g., worked for Courts, on the Hill, or in certain high level Executive branch positions.)

UNIFORMED MILITARY. Current and former service members come to us about security clearances and USERRA (for Reservists and National Guard) but also Medical Boards and PEBs, BCMR, DRB, money-claims (promotion or claimed over payments, usually), and similar non-UCMJ, matters. Some persons activated, deployed, or contracted in Iraq we assisted pro bono.

GOVERNMENT COLLECTIONS. We have helped civilian and military persons after the U.S. Government acted to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship or other U.S. paid money after involuntary disenrollment or discharge from R.O.T.C., federal health agencies, and from other federal programs.

DISCRIMINATION. We have litigated cases under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, American Disabilities Act, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, Equal Pay Act, and other federal and state discrimination statutes. The litigation has included "Reverse discrimination" cases.

GENERAL LITIGATION. We have litigated many cases to conclusion before jury and before judge- alone in U.S. District Courts, federal appellate courts, the United States Court of Federal Claims, in state courts, and before administrative bodies.

OTHER. 90% of our practice is representing non-Government and federal-employed individuals in the above-areas. 10% concerns some specialized or employer-assist type cases.
